Local Attractions Chelmarsh is a quiet village with some lovely walks of the brook and the reservoir. The River Severn is approximately two miles from the park where you can enjoy canoe trips, fishing or just walking. You can walk the river to Hampton Loade, Bridgnorth, Highley or Bewdley and make a day of it. There is also the famous foot ferry crossing at Hampton Loade. The nearby village of Highley is also a good area for walking. It was a heavily mined area and has now been redeveloped as parkland and walk ways. Chelmarsh is also very popular with cyclists as the Route 45 passes through the village and then along the river, also making a nice day out! As well as fishing at the park and on the river you can go trout fishing at Astbury. The nearby Outdoor pursuits Centre at Stottesdon offers a wealth of activities such as pony trekking, archery, mountain boarding and paint balling. The Bulls Head is the local pub in Chelmarsh, serving great restaurant and bar snacks daily and most weekends they have live music. It is approximately a fifteen minute walk from the Park along a bridleway. Bridgnorth has a wealth of pubs and restaurants and is a very lively town on a weekend. The Severn Valley Railway station at Hampton Loade is approximately two miles from the park, where you can take the train to either Bridgnorth or Bewdley, both are very nice towns on the riverside. Bridgnorth is the local town and well worth a visit, whether your into the history or just the shopping, especially on a Saturday for the market. From the park you can also reach Ludlow, the Clee Hills, Church Stretton, Shrewsbury, Ironbridge, RAF Cosford, West Midlands Safari Park, and the Wyre Forest within the hour, making it a good central location.
